This is the difference between a costume and a memory. A professional stays in character for the entire visit, knows the songs, and knows how to handle the child who is thrilled and the child who is suddenly shy. A costume alone cannot do any of that.

Kids run their own authenticity check within about ninety seconds: the voice, the hair, the way she answers an unscripted question about her castle.
